Roddy Maclean of Stornoway, Lewis directed this documentary for Mactv, which is due to air next month Put the date in your diary and watch the story unfold.

On one level, the little known story of how Loch Ewe in Wester Ross was at the centre of one of the most important yet little recognised campaigns in World War 2 – the Russian Convoys. On another is the moving journey of one woman, Davina Matthews, as she tries to find out what happened to her Uncle David, a radar operator who was killed while serving on HMS Achates as part of one of the convoys. Seventy years on the family are still looking for closure.

“I enjoyed researching, filming, and directing this documentary for Mactv.”
says Roddy  “The BBC Learning commissions over two years, which I did through ScreenHI, were invaluable in helping me progress to this next level, as also were the workshops and experiences provided by FilmG.”
