About

Mark has been involved in cinema for over 25 years Starting out as a projectionist at the age of 19, he worked his way up to Chief Projectionist of the Odeon Cinema, Chester, and then the Cameo Cinema, Edinburgh, and was involved with the Edinburgh Film Festival for 14 years He is an old friend of ScreenHI's and delivered a very well received Edit workshop during goNorth 2011, which focussed on the storytelling aspect of editing a film.

Since graduating he has worked as a film editor, his work has won six Scottish Bafta's and a further four nominations. 1996 Best Technician (Editor - ‘Arch Enemy’), 2000 Best Short Film (Editor/Co Writer - ‘What Do Busy People Do All Day?’),2002 Best Short Film (Editor - ‘Wish’), 2004 Best Children’s Series (Editor - ‘Shoebox Zoo’), 2005 Best Feature Film - Audience Vote (Editor - ‘Night People’), 2008 Best Short Film (Editor - ‘Ma Bar’)

Mark is also a filmmaker with experience in camera, script writing and script editing as well as teaching in various modes since 1996, giving lectures and mentoring. In 2011 he was appointed Film Representative for the Orkney Arts Forum.
