About

Sylvia Hehir successfully applied for our 2012 HI Wireless drama writing programme, which is designed to encourage and develop aspiring drama writers through supported workshops and mentoring. The scheme will culminate with twelve 10 minute dramas being recorded for broadcast online in mid 2013.

Sylvia is a writer living on the west coast of Scotland. She began to write scripts when, while studying Drama at Rolle College, she attended an Arvon course with Olwen Wymark and Willy Russell.  She particularly enjoys the challenge of writing drama for radio where securing and engaging the listener’s imagination is paramount, enabling the listener to become an integral part of the creative process.  She recently gained an MLitt (merit) in Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow.  Her novel for teenagers, Deleted, won the TC Farries award in 2010.  Her novel for teenagers, Safe Ground, is currently longlisted for the MsLexia children’s novel competition.

We have provided this area of our website for companies and freelance practitioners that ScreenHI has worked with in the Screen and Broadcast industry based in the Highlands and Islands to showcase, network and profile their work and craft.
