About

Iain Hector Ross successfully applied for our 2012 HI Wireless drama writing programme, which is designed to encourage and develop aspiring drama writers through supported workshops and mentoring. The scheme will culminate with twelve 10 minute dramas being recorded for broadcast online in mid 2013 Iain Hector grew up in Glasgow in the sixties and seventies and was one of the first to study Film and TV at Glasgow University in the year the course was launched. He's worked in all sorts of media roles since then, from researcher at STV to documentary producer at BBC Radio Scotland. Since he moved to Inverness he's worked as a radio journalist, producer, PR consultant and communications project manager. As a feature writer he's written for most of the mainstream Scottish press and had much fun for two years writing a weekly humour column for the Daily Express.

His 20 minute screenplay Close Relations was selected for production by the Television Arts Performance showcase in 2003. He was fortunate enough to see his play Harris Tweed and Golden Slippers produced for this project in the last round. He decided to change his creative focus to music and in particular songwriting which might seem like a step away from screen/playwriting but in fact the discipline of telling stories in song format is  just as challenging and rewarding. He's written around fifty songs in the past eighteen months inspired by a whole range of stories and characters. More importantly he feels this immersion in the craft of songwriting has both sharpened his writing and kept his storytelling fresh.

We have provided this area of our website for companies and freelance practitioners that ScreenHI has worked with in the Screen and Broadcast industry based in the Highlands and Islands to showcase, network and profile their work and craft.
