Honeycomb - Creative Works Highland Launch

Thursday 31st July 2014, Fort William

At the beginning of the summer of 2014 ScreenHI became the Highland delivery partners for the new cross border programme, Honeycomb - Creative Works.  It's been designed to develop networks, skills and opportunities for creative businesses in the digital sector as well as monitor industry developments and provide seed funding across the three participating countries of Northern Ireland, the six border counties of the Republic of ireland and the western seaboard of Scotland.  ScreenHI's geographical remit is across Skye, Lochaber, Lochalsh, Argyll and Bute.

Kicking off with a networking development session in Fort William we launched Honeycomb to a full house at the Alexandra Hotel. Delighted by the turnout we had creative practitioners come from far and wide, some familiar faces but the majority were new to us ScreenHI Director, Amanda Millen opened with an informal presentation to put everyone in the picture about Honeycomb's framework, ambitions and the opportunities available.

We then got down to explaining The Honey Pot - a dedicated seed fund to help aspiring digital content creators get their innovative ideas off the ground as well as further establish the commercial potential of a concept through development and testing of ideas.

To finish off the evening we answered questions and shared ideas in a really productive and fevered networking reception. It was really exciting to see people understand the potential in their creativity and how they can realise it through Honeycomb opportunities. A lot of good connections were made between the creative practitioners in the area, let's see some sparks flying as a result!
