Independent production company, Matchlight was established in Glasgow in 2009. They work with BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC 4, BBC Scotland, Channel 5 and Channel 4 on documentary and factual productions – from single films to landmark series. They are committed to growing talent wherever they find it, giving everyone an opportunity to develop their skills and progress their careers.
The Matchlight Documentary Internship Programme, was launched in July 2010. It was aimed to equip a new generation of Scottish based producer/directors with the experience they need to win network television commissions. The year-long, paid professional development programme has helped four producer/directors devise, develop and pitch TV programme ideas for their first UK network commissions. The Internship Programme was supported by ScreenHI, Creative Scotland, Highlands & Island Enterprise and Channel 4, with one of the four places ring-fenced for talent from the Highlands & Islands.
Peter McQueen from Oban was one of the interns for 2010/2011 sponsored by ScreenHI. He produced and directed a six part BBC Alba observational documentary series called Partaig.
