Honeycomb - Creative Works Programme

We have a programme of events through to the end of March 2015 designed for you and completely FREE to attend. We're talking animators, designers, band managers, musicians, filmmakers, tour managers, producers, writers, games developers and programmers to name but a few. March Programme of Events

In the Highlands of Scotland Honeycomb is being rolled out in Lochaber, Skye and Lochalsh, Argyll and Bute. The Honeycomb application process is now open to anyone in the Highlands and Islands so all the events listed below are available to businesses resident in the Highlands and Islands. Honeycomb is also being delivered in Arran and Cumbrae, North Ayrshire mainland, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway, the six southern border counties of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

19th March, MG Alba Boardoom, Seaforth Road, Stornoway, 3.30pm - 6pm
GUEST SPEAKER - PAUL MURRAY

Paul Murray is the Head of Formats at Scotland's largest indie, IWC Media. We are delighted he will be in Stornoway to discuss the process of creating entertainment formats for TV through the projects he has worked on during his career.

He is credited with creating shows including IWC Media’s own Location, Location, Location (Channel 4), as well as You Can’t Fire Me I’m Famous (BBC 1) and Antiques Road Trip (BBC2).

Prior to joining IWC he was Creative Director at both Matchlight Productions and STV Productions and also Head of Objective Scotland, where he worked on The Real Hustle, Killer Magic and Face The Clock. Earlier in his career, he worked at Endemol, one of the UK's largest production companies, where he worked on Restoration Village, Help My Dog’s As Fat As Me and Move or Improve?

DIGITAL MARKETING - CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREATIVE BUSINESSES

DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION WORKSHOP - EMUBANDS

EmuBands Managing Director, Ally Gray, will be discussing how to distribute your music to leading digital retailers such as iTunes, Spotify and Amazon MP3. Offering attendees a comprehensive overview of the process, the session will also look at strategies to maximise your releases on these services.

Ally is Managing Director and co-founder of EmuBands, as well as a board member of the Scottish Music Industry Association and a music industry mentor for the Music+ project. As well as digital distribution, Ally has experience in concert promotion and artist management, and regularly lectures at colleges and universities on both the music industry in general and digital distribution specifically.

RADIO SKILLS:  COMPLIANCE AND CREATING CONTENT FOR LOCAL AUDIENCES

In this workshop we’ll cover local news gathering, presenting skills and creating community content. We’ll delve into the key areas to consider in reporting news, from compliance issues and matters of impartiality, to what you should and shouldn’t say as well as analysing techniques for presenting.
