ScreenHI, XpoNorth's Screen and Broadcast network, along with partners Moray College UHI and Hunted Cow Studios, are excited to announce this year's Moray Game Jam workshops.

These FREE workshops take place on Saturday 18th March 2017 and are open to all curious about or interested in games. Please note anyone under 14 should be accompanied by an adult.

Please ensure you register early to avoid disappointment as tickets are limited.

Game Development Tools for Rapid Prototyping (9:30 - 10:30am)
A look at some free tools for creating assets for games and how to import them into Unity and re-purpose some of the standard assets. 1 hour talk by Gary Groves, Managing Director at Strange High House Ltd. Register on Eventbrite here

How NOT to make a game... (10:45am - 11:45am)
Come and learn how to make your games awesome by learning how NOT to make a game. Register on Eventbrite here

The Logic of Interactive Storytelling (12noon - 1pm)
Have you ever wanted to write for games, but don't know where to even start planning? Register on Eventbrite here

Crafting a Great Game Art Portfolio (1:15pm - 2:15pm)
This talk will cover setting up your first game art portfolio (or improving your current one) to make sure you’re showing your best side to studios and art directors. Register on Eventbrite here

Engaging Play (2:30pm - 3:30pm)
Play should be at the heart of any game. From games to the team itself, if play isn’t a part of your games, then people won’t want them.

Augmented Reality: A Real World View? (3:45pm - 4:15pm)
Learn about Augmented Reality in this 30 minute talk by Craig Barron, Studio Manager at HexWar Games Ltd. Register on Eventbrite here

How to Create a Mobile VR Game in Unity (4:30pm - 5pm)
2016 was a key year for VR with the launch of multiple headsets such as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Mobile VR is the most accessible and affordable way to experience Virtual Reality.  Come and build your first Mobile VR game using Unity3D. Register on Eventbrite here

The Game Jam concludes on Sunday 19th March where we’ll be inviting members of the public as well as competitors, designers and industry professionals to test and try out the creations from the weekend in our very own Gaming Playground, from 1pm at Moray College UHI.
