My Red Carpet Moment - Free Gaelic Language Masterclass

Sandra Murray MBE, Inverness based couturier and fluent Gaelic speaker, will hold two special masterclasses for aspiring fashion designers, in Gaelic language on Thursday 1st & Wednesday 7th November.

The masterclasses, which will be free of charge, are supported by Commun na Gàidhlig and aimed at Gaelic-speaking secondary school pupils aged 14 and above, and Gaelic language students wishing to specialise in fashion and textiles.

Sandra created a stunning capsule wardrobe for Julie Fowlis, Gaelic singing star of Disney Pixar’s ‘Brave’ for her red carpet appearances at the film’s global premieres in LA, Edinburgh and Inverness; the resulting designs have been seen by an audience of millions.  Julie Fowlis, dressed and styled by Sandra, also took part in a professional photoshoot, with Royal photographer John Swannell, at a private castle by the shores of Loch Ness.

Now young people can find out how it all came about from the couturier herself, at these special masterclasses, which will be conducted in Gaelic language at Sandra’s Inverness studio, and will give an invaluable insight into the world of fashion and the challenges designers face.
