About

Phil has been a writer for several years, whilst juggling a full time job Initially he was published as a poet and feature writer before concentrating on drama In the last few years he has been mentored by BBC Radio Scotland’s David Ian Neville through the Scottish Book Trust mentoring scheme, followed by a commission with HI Wireless for Piper on the Roof - a 10 minute online radio podcast.

For the stage, Phil had script development and a rehearsed reading at Eden Court for his full-length stage play Gerry and the Glasshouse through HI~Arts and the Playwrights’ Studio Scotland He was mentored by Douglas Maxwell also through the Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, which resulted in a full-length stage play Rhum, Botany and the Backlash, which he’s currently adapting for radio Phil is also writing and directing a short stage play The Errp Man for the Play Pieces festival of short plays, and successfully applied for the second incarnation of the HI~Wireless radio writing scheme, now teamed with ScreenHI, which involves mentoring and immersion in the whole production process for an online radio broadcast.
