Hebrides International Film Festival 2015 Announces This Year's Theme and and Competitions
Organisers have announced that the second Hebrides International Film Festival (HIFF 2015) will present an exciting Cinema programme of feature films, shorts and animations around the theme of Islands and Environments The festival runs from 13th to 17th October 2015 in Stornoway and six rural venues located throughout the Western Isles.
In line with this theme, HIFF 2015 is holding two competitions this year – the Photography and the Short Film competitions.
The Photography competition calls for submissions from photographers (professional or amateur) with the theme Island Life – unique glimpses of the Outer Hebrides There will be two categories – Children (under 16) and Adults. The finalists’ pictures will be exhibited in An Lanntair Arts Centre during the Festival and online on the Festival’s website.
The Short Film Competition is inviting filmmakers to submit their short films (10-15 mins) on the theme of Scottish Islands – a unique perspective. This competition is open only to adults over 18. The film can be made in any language as long as it is filmed on a Scottish Island The prize for this competition is £500 The winning film will be screened in An Lanntair during the Festival and with the runners up at the two Pop-Up Cinemas (one will be in Stornoway and the other in Taigh Chearsabhagh, North Uist).

An educational programme of lectures and Q & A sessions with international Directors and DOP's also accompanies the HIFF 2015 programme.
