Following the Right Lines production of Hi Wireless in 2011, ScreenHI kicked off the second Hi Wireless project in November 2012, designed to encourage and develop aspiring drama writers through supported workshops and mentoring as they developed their stories from idea concept and script development through to recording for online broadcast. Post production is finished and we are delighted to launch the first radio drama – Border Control.

A teenage couple break down on the Scotland/England border on Referendum Night. She's Scottish and he's English and they've run away from their families to get married, as she is pregnant. Against the backdrop of the evolving momentous political drama, the couple become a metaphor for how the past and future collide. Border Control is written by Dave Smith and stars Ewan Donald and Helen MacKay. It is produced by Amanda Millen and directed by Alan de Pellette.

It will also be available on iTunes for download soon.

Border Control is the first play in an exciting new series of Hi Wireless. Dave's script is a fun take on the ups and downs of young love set against the backdrop of Referendum Night and momentous changes that may or may not happen. It's brought to life by 2 talented young performers, Helen MacKay and Ewan Donald, and it's a great way to begin a series of really interesting and diverse new writing from Scotland, Director Alan de Pellette

As a playwright I'm very pleased that my play Border Control is opening the new Hi-Wireless season but also, as a director of Right Lines Productions, I am delighted to have a part in creating this project along with our partner ScreenHi. I'm looking forward to hearing the finished versions of the other pieces as they are released and take us nearer to establishing a permanent online platform for Scottish dramatists, Writer, Dave Smith
