The Broadcast Production and Post Forum took place last week over two days at the BFI on London's South Bank. I attended the Forum and was really keen to find out more about  the new advances in technology and get some hands on with some of the new cameras available.

The main discussion topic was '4K for broadcast', otherwise known as Ultra HD, a resolution 4 times the size of HD.   There was also a focus on flagship drama production with the creative teams behind Downton Abbey, Peaky Blinders, Broadchurch and The Tunnel all featuring on panels throughout the 2 days.

Several top manufacturers were also in attendance with Sony's 4K Displays and ARRI's AMIRA prototype drawing most attention. That’s me pictured here with the ARRI AMIRA camera, which is released in March of next year.

As a Final Cut editor currently making the switch to Avid, I felt the studio sessions by root6 were particularly helpful. I also enjoyed the opportunity to quiz wildlife cameraman and presenter Gordon Buchanan about the contents of his extra kit bag; a Nikon DSLR and 5 go pros for anyone who's interested.

Overall the forum was an excellent craft-focussed event held in an iconic location and I'm looking forward to next year.
