About
Toby's main collaboration with ScreenHI has been filming and directing a short promotional film called Wave Culture about wave energy and the region of Caithness, which is currently in post production. Through working with ScreenHI he has made lots of connections with other filmmakers and artists as well as attending several ScreenHI events and training, notably Hit The Ground Running at goNORTH in 2012. This was a course focussing on the all important Runner role that can open up doors and lead to very successful careers in TV and Film.
Toby Watts started making films with his older brother when he was in his early teens. Later on, he studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University during which time he continued to make films and write scripts, stand-up comedy and sketches, which he would also perform. After graduating, Toby went to work for a documentary production company in India where he worked as a scriptwriter and production assistant on various documentaries about renewable energy, girls who play rugby and female musicians in India. Since the beginning of 2011, he's been based back at home in Caithness where he's been developing ideas and making several films.
