Making Progress

4 x 5  min short films made by Catherine Weir in collaboration with HI-Arts

Hi-Arts

ScreenHI collaborated with HI-Arts, the arts and cultural development agency for the Highlands and Islands of Scotland in the Spring/Summer of 2011 on their mentoring scheme Making Progress.  This project provided business support and guidance for mid career craftmakers to devise a programme that reflected their aspirations in developing a product range and exhibiting their work.   Four makers were selected for the 2011 scheme and four films capturing the craftsmanship of each of them were produced by ScreenHI These shorts, featured below, were used with each maker’s Spotlight show at the Inverness Museum in the summer of 2011 They were also screened on the HI-Arts and craftmakers websites.

Catherine Weir from Lochaber successfully interviewed for the directing role and successfully made three very individual films to the HI-Arts brief, that the film should be a reflection on the maker’s practice ScreenHI mentored Catherine throughout the production of the films, supplied filming and editing equipment as well as support in editing and finishing the films.

Catherine wrote a regular blog throughout the production period and her four films can be viewed below Catherine has since gone on to complete a 6 month contract as the ScreenHI Edit Indiepreneur and successfully applied for the 6 month Assistant Editor job with Glasgow based Indie Media Co-op working on a landmark BBC ALBA documentary.
